Newly released security and body camera footage of Arizona police officers confronting and fatally shooting an armed man who brandished a handgun during a disturbance at a hookah lounge last month.
The shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. at Diamondz Lounge in Tucson, the Arizona Republic reports. Police were responding to a fight involving a man with a gun that erupted at the business.
The fight participants had fled by the time officers reached the scene, but while officers were still at the lounge, a second altercation broke out, spilling into the parking lot.
In the released footage, Adum Mahamat, 25, can be seen participating in a fight inside the lounge, throwing at least one punch before other patrons push him away. His gun is knocked to the floor, but he snatches it back up as people scramble for the exits.
In the parking lot, Mahamat brandished his gun amid the fleeing crowd. Police order him to drop his weapon, and Mahamat is seen apparently chambering a round before officers open fire.
Life-saving measures were performed on Mahamat, and he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
